Comic Party Revolution Vol 1Comic Party Revolution
By Andromeda
Comic Party Revolution brings you back to those favorite and funny characters of the first TV series, Comic Party. Sendo Kazuki is now fully immersed in the world of fan comics. Along with his friends, they continue to strive to meet that next publishing deadline, encouraging each other along the way, whether it’s with their drawing or with their sales.
But it wouldn’t be much of a story if that’s all the characters did, draw and sell their fan comics. They do have lives after all. Eimi is still in school. But for poor Eimi, she has to attend summer school. That’s certainly no fun when everyone else is going to the beach and you want to. Lying to Kazuki, she gets him to promise to take her. So now she has to make sure that no one finds out that she’s going to summer school and ruin her plans. Unfortunately for Eimi though, everyone starts acting strangely around her.
But lying and keeping secrets isn’t Eimi’s only problem in life. Eimi and Yuu end up with the same numbered ticket for the next comic con. Meaning, it was double booked. Neither girl wants to drop out nor share a table. So what’s the only way to settle this dispute? A sports competition! The game? Baseball. The first challenge though, putting together a team. So what happens when you have the same friends? It becomes a race to see who can ask who first to join a team.
No matter what life has to throw at them, they always stay the best of friends in the end. And that’s what’s important, isn’t it? It’s a good life lesson, that you can compete with someone and not be enemies.
Having not seen the series Comic Party, I was a little lost as to how they came to be where they had. I was missing the history. After the first episode of Comic Party Revolution, I was able to get past that and enjoy the story more. Even so, I really do suggest watching Comic Party before watching Comic Party Revolution.
As much as I enjoyed the clean and brightly drawn animation, I found the series to be a bit dull for my tastes. Then again, I’m more of a kick butt, big F’n robots, fantasy, magical girl, action lover. So I’m certainly not saying this is a bad series. I do have many friends that enjoyed Comic Party immensely.
One of the things that I really enjoyed was all the extras on the first volume. Clean Open, Clean Close, Interview with Shizuka Ishikawa (Eimi), Interview with Sumie Baba (Chisa), Japanese VA profiles, The Language of Doujinshi, and What is Comic Party?. What is Comic Party? has to be my favorite though. It shows the history of comic party, from it's start as a game for the Dreamcast to it's latest release of Comic Party Revolution.
