Current Season fansubs I'm watching.... Here's what I'm currently sniping out of the world of fansubs.
Hellsing Ultimate OVA. This OVA more closely follows the manga than the original OVA series did, so it's like watching a different anime. Some of the comedy elements seem WAY out of place, but they're lifted from the manga (for those purists who saw the first OVA and never read the manga)
Claymore. Girls and swords. How can you go wrong? It's a bit Gothic and serious, and the pacing is a little slow, but so far so good.
Code E. This one looked like it had potential, but after 8 episodes the pace the story is developing is SLOW. I'll stick it out though.
Hayate No Gotuko. This one is fun and funny. The initial plotline is all but meaningless, but it's too fun and silly to really care.
Lovely Complex. This one is also fun and hilarious. Probably my favorite series this season. Sure it's mostly a shoujo title. Must be my feminine side.:P
Lucky Star. This is like a "chibi" version of Azumanga Daioh, and definitely doesn't take itself seriously (the later episodes live action closing sequences with the director of the series singing and doing really bad martial arts bears this out).
Moetan. This series is obviously geared towards those with an extreme lolicon complex, but I'll stick it out a few more eps to see if there is anything worthwhile.
Nagasarete Airantou. The ultimate harem anime. One guy, island of girls, talking animals and mame daifuku! oishii!!! :P
Overdrive. A cycling/sports anime. Never much been my cup of tea, but this one seems to be written well, and the story is good so far.
Potemayo. Ok..where do I start. A small chibi creature named for the potato mayonaiise bread the main character happened to be eating at the moment it popped out of his refrigerator. That's Potemayo. There's also Guchiko, another one of these strange refrigerator spawned creatures, but this one weilds a scythe and has death beam shooting yellow thingies on the side of it's head. It's complex to describe after that....but it's a pretty funny series.
Sayonara Zetsubo Sensei. This series starts out with the main character, a teacher, attempting to commit suicide. So yeah, this is a comedy! :D And a pretty good one too...
School Days. This is a totally formulaic shoujo boy meets girl fest. But my daughter says I have to finish this one. :P
Seto No Hanayome. Mermaids and gangsters.....and space suits.....submarines....one character has The Terminator as her dad. Need I say more?
Sky Girls. Another girl/mecha anime, but this one seems ok so far. Still haven't made my mind up on this one.
Umisho. Laced with plenty of breast obsessive ecchi comedy, this one is kind of fun, with the storyline revolving around a rather "odd" girl. Ayu fansubs though is way behind..... :(
Zombie Loan. So far this one has been unimpressive and I may ditch it. Only got so much hard drive space to play with here.
That all folks. Just felt like sharing what I've been watching....

I wonder where you find the time for all this.

LOL.....It's called having no LIFE! :P
Or rather too much of one at times....
Actually, I usually download fansub eps via RSS feeds and keywords, and spend 1/2 the weekend with my kids playing catchup, since I've infected them with my disease...MUHAHAHAHA!
I'm a pretty intense person anyway. Two jobs, one normal one by day, a web venture by night, a modest social life, part time dad, etc...etc....
The social life suffers a bit. I think I've had one serious relationship since I divorced 4 years ago. Gazillions of casual ones, but only one worth considering serious. It went south because she moved out of state. Even if my mother did lovingly refer to her as jailbait, (she was 23, and I'm way not 23 :P), it worked because she was about as crack induced intense as I am. Such is life...But I digress. This is turning into an autobiography.
I do have a few friends I hang out with here and there, and amazingly none of them are anime otaku's like me. They all do share my intense love for Miyako's downtown though. Plenty of sushi and sake almost makes me normal. (or perhaps it's just that the sake takes the edge off of my naturally crack induced nature...hard to say)
Reminds me, Brian owes me a Miyako's tab for building his new QX6600 quadcore rig!!!
If I didn't focus some of my energies on ridiculous diversions like anime I'd probably go nuts anyway. I've spent the bulk of my adult life cramming a 36 hour lifestyle into a 24 hour day, so it just seems sorta normal to me.....and a little abnormal to everyone else ;)

OH! have you tried the sushi at Saki's Grill on Church Street? Very good stuff. The other food wasn't all that, but damned if I didn't love the sushi. They have a roll called Lotus Blossom that I love.
Maybe that's what we should do one weekend, get together for some sushi. Bunny's moving tomorrow, so I'm losing my sushi partner.

Amen sister!!! Sushi is life!!
I haven't tried Saki's Grill, but it might be worth a shot.
I've been going to Miyako's as a regular thing for 5 years now. Some of the best sushi I've had outside of japan. Their sushi rocks, I know all the staff there, and I'm practically recognized as furniture there. :P
If I didn't take my kids there twice a month they'd probably abandon me too. :)

I've been going to Wasabi's for years now to get my sushi. Shogun's sushi kind of sucked. I've been to Miyako's once and was interested by a lot of the sushi on the menu, but I was a bit of a chicken with a lot of it... lol.

Holy sh**! That's a lot of anime! What's the rule on cursing? Is there one?
Anyway, my poor computer and Internet couldn't keep up with that many shows. ME, I couldn't keep up with that many. If anime were fashion, you're up on the latest season's trends and stuff like that. I try to keep up, but usually, I just wait until the entire series ends up on BoxTorrents. Otherwise, it's impossible.
Seto No Hanayome: I saw an episode of that at a NASHI meeting. It's rare that I laugh when I watch anime, and I couldn't help it when I saw the Terminator. The best part was when he sunk into a burning garbage bin with his signature thumb raised in the air. I should remember to get the rest of this show.
Umisho: I think I might've downloaded two episodes. Haven't watched it yet though. Why can't more anime be a** obsessive as opposed to breast obsessive? (I still want to know about the cursing rule, because it's a part of my natural vocabulary.) Y'know what? I should start my own topic on that...

lol, cussing is fine.
I've got so much downloaded that it would take me nearly a year to watch all I have. which I think I'm gonna bust out some more Tsubasa tonight.
Speaking of sushi, have you tried Kanpai's yet? They added that whole sushi area in their place, but I haven't tried it yet. Every time I go, it's with people who don't do sushi.
fastsilicon- 09-09-2007
No, I haven't there. I haven't been to Kanpai in ages though.
I guess I'm not all that brave when it comes to sushi. The different between excellent and crap is a very thin line when it comes to sushi restaurants in my experience. That and Miyako's is 5 minutes from the house! <>
But.....Kanpai is about the same distance, so it'd be worth a shot. <:)>

Boxtorrents is one of my (many) backup plans. So many new series show every season that even my obsessive *ss can't sample them all. I'll pick up a review, scan animenfo or themanime for something different, or my daughter will clue me in on something I missed, and off to Box's site I go. :)

After this description I'll have to watch this.
