Divergence Eve – Misaki Chronicles: Vol 1 Divergence Eve – Misaki Chronicles: Vol 1
Second Chances
Written by Andromeda
“For a hapless young cadet, boot camp is no picnic, and Misaki is as hapless as they get. With the help of friends Luxandra, Kiri, and Suzanna, however, she advances in her training. Pretty normal, right? Wrong. Luxandra should be dead. Suzanna should be discharged. Misaki herself should have vanished in the exodus from the Watcher’s Nest outpost. And the mysterious life known as the Ghoul still keeps popping up. It’s up to Lieutenant Commander Ertiana and the rest of the survivors from Watcher’s Nest to find out why everything on Earth is back to normal… when everything else in the universe is anything but..”
Misaki Chronicles picks up where Divergence Eve leaves off. If you were like me at the end of Divergence Eve, then you were confused somewhat and left questioning some things. It made you feel as if there should have been more. More of anything. Misaki Chronicles somewhat helps out in the area of needing more of the overly busted women who fight these strange space creatures.
In this series you’ll find out what motivated Misaki to join the Allied Forces Military Academy. She certainly isn’t the best in gym class and she seems to fall asleep in class a lot. Oh, and you can’t forget about the fact that she’s dangerous with a weapon… penalty points for friendly fire! But despite this she tries very hard to do what it takes to get through the Academy and the memories of her father keep her going.
There are two stories to this series though. The first one is about Misaki’s past that lead up to her disappearance while at the Watcher’s Nest. The other story has Ertiana investigating time anomalies that are happening on Earth, even if she and the other survivors from the Watcher’s Nest don’t understand them. They do know that it has something to do with the ghouls.
For Ertiana, Misaki is only in her memories. But during Ertiana’s first encounter on Earth, using a time barrier, she runs into Misaki while she’s on a military exercise with her classmates for the Academy. It’s awkward of course, but how could she pass up this chance to get to know Misaki more, to find out just why she joined the Academy. It’s during their pleasant conversation in the woods at night that Misaki encounters her first ghoul.
When Ertiana returns to space and to the others, she has a conversation with one of Misaki’s old classmates. It seems that things on Earth aren’t happening exactly how some remember it.
I loved the art and design of this series, minus the extremely large breasts. I don’t mind fanservice, but wow, watching these chics run actually made me laugh. Oh and I can’t forget the story either. It was constantly moving. There were no slow spots to it. And believe me when I tell you, I wasn’t a happy camper when I found out that my press release copy only had three episodes on it. I need more Misaki! I have to find out about the visions of young Misaki that Ertiana keeps seeing! Just what are those ghoul things and why are they on Earth!? So many questions, so little answers, must see more!

I watched a few of the episodes from Divergence Eve, and I wasn't impressed at all.
I might give it another try in the future, but then I don't know when that future will come.

I've seen both. This is different. It's better. They don't leave you confused. I felt a bit lost when I watched Divergence Eve and couldn't get into it. Too many unknown factors, no build up for the characters. The art seemed differnent as well, in a way. I guess because of it being on earth and you have so much more to draw and express, unlike space.
