Fate/Stay NightStarted playing
Fate/Stay Night on my DS last week. Had never played it before, but I'm already beginning to see why its deemed as being so legendary by the few who have played it and drop mentions of it from time to time on message boards. Terribly engrossing VN game. I've probably already played it for about ten hours or so and am just now about to where volume one of the anime ends (episode 4). Granted the DS port has some load times, but not having the luxury of the PC version at my disposal I'm more than willing to tolerate this very minor inconvenience.
Must say that I never imagined the story would be so incredibly much deeper than it is in the anime. I just rewatched volume one of the anime the other night so as to guage the differences. The anime is unquestionably based on the VN, but they skipped over a ton of plot building character interactions in order make it all fit into the twenty-however-many episodes the series is. For example, The anime begins with Tohsaka summoning Archer. The VN begins with Tohsaka recalling her last memories of her father and explaining a little about herself, and then she goes onto the preperations to summon her servant. And there's a very lengthy portion of initial interactions and arguements between she and Archer, they don't get along well initially at all. Whereas in the anime they seem to get along just fine from the very start. There are plenty of other things in the anime that were almost unnoticeable, but once playing the VN stand out because they're things from the VN that the reasoning behind is skipped in the anime.
