Hayate the Combat Butler? Just wondering if anyone has heard of this. Currently just received volume 5 in the mail. I think as of now there is.....8 volumes? I am not sure. there is also an anime series that is out to go along with it. Pretty good comedy with a love plot, though it gets sorta smaller and smaller every volume.

There is a plot? (Dun dun DUNN!)
Yeah, I got the first four volumes. I plan on buying the 5th and maybe the 6th one when the new Reborn! volume comes out.
By the way, the first thing I noticed is that it appears as though they mistranslated the title. I don't know Japanese, but I do remember from the opening credits that Hayate no Gotoku was translated into something about the wind (sorry, don't remember the words, but they did say hayate no gotoku in the song). Am I right or are they just saying the title of the anime?

No idea to be honest with you. But I think Hayate no Gotoku is the correct Japanese title.
Either way I am almost done reading vol 5. Then after which i need to wait before I order anymore manga. I am strapped for cash after lightning ran in on my computer lol.
Is the anime any good? I have never seen it to be honest.

Well, obviously it is different from the manga. Some major differences is that since it was showed on Tokyo TV it was rather censored. Yakuzas replaced with "really nice people" or something like that. Everytime there is to be blood you see a sign that says "Can't show this" over the spot where the blood is suppose to be. Also they break the fourth wall a whole lot in the anime. Like the manga, it is rather difficult to describe what is going on due to it's rapid pace story.

Ouch that sucks, though after I finish the manga, I would be curious to see it anyway.
I cannot imagine they had to censor much....its does not seem that adult XD. I would recommend the manga to a 5 year old......though....anime and manga are different, so....ya know.

Actually, their censorship is hardly noticeable and can be rather funny.
I.E. (these may be incorrectly quoted, please excuse)
The Yakuzas come bursting in the door and Hayate goes "You must be the really nice men that my father was talking about!"
The tiger jumps on Hayate when he is dressed up as a cat girl. Hayate says, "Don't do something that we are not allowed to show on T.V.!"
Another censorship thing they do is copyright censorship. They just like in the manga, they bleep some parts out because of copyright laws. It is obvious, they have fun with the bleeps, and sometimes even break the fourth wall with it.
One more thing, I understand that T.V. Tokyo censors a lot of things regarding violence. Guns get colored to look like toys. Bullets don't hit. Gang names get left out. However, like I said, it is not really that noticeable unless you are a die-hard fan.
