Hello everyone, I'm new. :)
Hi everyone, I wanted to introduce myself. My name's Aaron, and I am in Charleston, SC. There is nothing of an anime community that I can find down here, and I was looking on the web tonight for some kind of group I could find and join that shared similar interests as myself. I've been an anime fan for many years, and have been very involved with anime cons and the con community. I ran an event called the Final Fantasy Ball in Georgia and then Florida and I held it for 4 years and it actually because famous all around the world. I'm an accomplished costume and prop designer, and have a lot of cosplay experiance as well. I am in my 20's, male, single, and frankly, I'm bored out of my mind. I'd love to meet some new people here and even help promote the site and find more people who are interested. In the Florida community they have so many ENORMOUS groups that people could be in them for years and never meet everyone, and I know that there has to be tons of people in South Carolina as well that could create that same kind of atmosphere. I want to be a part of that and help in whatever way that I can. So once again, hello everyone! It's a pleasure to meet all of you. :)

Hi, welcome to South Carolina Anime. Don't worry, were pretty active around here, which comes to a surprise, since this group is relativley new (long story tho). Anyway, it's great to see that there is another Magiranger/Super Sentai fan here.

OMG! I've heard of the FF Ball and have wanted to go!! But, even though I'm a member of a Florida group.. times 3... lol, I can never make it, though I do know some that have. 98% of the cons I've been to are in Florida. wow.. so cool! Anyway.. welcome!! The closest I get to Charleston is where 26 and 95 meet.. lol. Which reminds me, I need to call my aunt to find out when I'm meeting her on Sunday in St George... .*rumages around for the cell phone*

thank you for the welcome. :) Yeah, I am not doing the FFB anymore. Long story short, the guy that ran the con kind of screwed me over, and I decided to retire the event rather than continuing it, so he went to my second in command, who was also my former best friend and asked him to run it instead. The FFB was my own event that I had ran and developed for 4 years, and they completely stole it from me without asking. They claimed that they were going to ask for my permission and never did, and when I emailed them and asked them not to, they simply ignored me and did it anyways saying "We are just giving the fans what they want. People wanted another one and you gotta keep the public happy!" It's an easy fallback when you want to screw someone over but don't want to look like you are screwing someone over. Claiming it's just for the fans is a get out of jail free card if you don't want to be morally liable for your actions. After that happened, I dropped out of the con community entirely after suffering a nervous breakdown from everything that happened. Virtually all of the friends that I had made through the last 5 years turned their backs on me (As seems to be the case with the drama filled cosplay/convention community) and so I decided to go somewhere else and try to meet some new people and start with a clean slate. :)

Yeah, that sounds like the Florida con scene alright. Experienced that myself a few years ago with one of the groups down there. Who needs enemies with friends like that.

Blue Lionheart- 04-08-2006

Exactly. So many of them behave like little children that they aren't worth the effort. Lots of the Wasabi Anime people were involved with those problems too. It's weird though. Starting over I mean. I think it would be fun to eventually start my own convention somewhere around here, but I don't know if there would be that much interest in the community.

Hello, and welcome to the forums. Most of us are up in the Spartanburg/Greenville area, but we're getting more recruits in other parts of South Carolina. I think there might even be someone from your area. At least I seem to remember someone.

I wish that there were more girls down here to talk to. I mean no disrespect to anyone of course, but I get along better with girls than with boys.

Zero0079- 04-08-2006

Well, hopefully things would be different for ya here in SC. I just feel sorry for other Anime Fans like yourself at Florida. Although they do get more active with Anime, Manga, and Scifi than here, but hopefully that will change.

My girlfriend just met a girl in Columbia that was into anime. It's one of her friends, friends. I'll have to ask her to point her to the forums, then maybe the other girl from Columbia might have someone to meet up with maybe.

I seriously believe that if we all try to bring in people that we know who are local to us and are anime fans, then it would just HAVE to cause a domino effect, right? I mean....that makes sense doesn't it?

Zero0079, I'm going to have to call dunce on this one. If I tell you, and you tell someone else, and they tell their friend, who tells their friend, then it will continue until the anime club is fairly large. Blue Lionheart, in reality it usually doesn't work out so well. After all you're looking to join an anime club probably because you don't know of anyone around you that likes anime, so who can you tell?

Zero0079- 04-09-2006

But it doesn't always work out that way. Sometimes things can go unnoticed.
