Greatings and Salutations! I am not in the Charleston area, but I am in the Columbia area! I have found that the same sort of thing is going on here, I am pretty sure there are anime fans/clubs around here somewhere but I have not found them yet:) I recently found this place as well and am enjoying it so far. Its nice to seem new people joining almost daily.

Exactly. So many of them behave like little children that they aren't worth the effort. Lots of the Wasabi Anime people were involved with those problems too. It's weird though. Starting over I mean. I think it would be fun to eventually start my own convention somewhere around here, but I don't know if there would be that much interest in the community. Umm... sooo... would it be bad to say that we are somewhat affiliated with Wasabi anime? The group I had problems with was Orange Anime. *grumbles about something* I know there aren't a lot of cons around here, but we are trying to get something going on at ConCarolinas this year and any help, even if it's just showing up, will be great. So far the only panel we've been approved for is DDR. I've had a problem with the other anime club's Co-President and I pulled us from the viewing line up. But we may be able to get the room after hours as long as someone watches it and locks up when we aren't there. And what am I! chopped lliver! Last time I checked I was female! Not single.. but still.. very much female.. :P

Assuming that you know of a few comic book shops there.

I don't know...I don't want to come in here and cause problems, or start anything negative by ANY means hehe. :) Back when I was running the Final Fantasy Ball, Joey Snackpants from Wasabi Anime and a couple other people involved in that group went around badmouthing our reputation and making me (by name) out to be the scum of the earth "to be avoided like the plague" direct quote. It's weird, I didn't even know the guy and he was badmouthing me and what I had put together. I had a couple other problems with Wasabi after that as well, and it's just left a bad taste in my mouth. I actually also have a couple Wasabi people that are my friends and that I think a lot of, so it can go either way... I'm just very jaded because of a lot of crap I had to endure from a lot of very mean and selfish people. I apologize if I am moody on the topic. hehe

Yep, I know the whole 2 comic shops here in Columbia (there use to be 3), I have lived in the Columbia area for 8 or so years now and looking around for a anime group for the last 3 or so. I do not mind it so much, I have a few friends that enjoy anime, so I have someone I can talk with about it at times. Just poking around for groups is all. I know there aren't a lot of cons around here Well there is a convention coming up at the end of April here in Columbia that called RoundCon *points down to her sig* It is mostly a gaming convention, there has been an sorta anime presence in past years. When the last person running it left to go to school in CA I took over. Since then I have been going to other cons and just trying to spread the word a little bit more about it. This will be my second year running it. and I think things are getting better! :D On a diffrent topic, I am just now (in the past few months) starting to get intreasted in Cosplay, I have not started anything, I just dont know where to start really, so any suggestions BlueLionheart would be welcome:)

Sadly I happen to be friends with them... lol. But I know how they can be and I don't always agree with what they do. Right now Maboroshi is on the shit list. But I can understand why. And it's the same with me for Orange Anime. Some crap went down with a few of the head peeps there, but I'm still friends with a lot of them. I always make sure to hit the con parties they have.. lol. But please, don't think there will be any problems caused or anything. I myself always like to judge/find out about a person myself and not rely on what others think of said person. Plus different cirumcstances and what not with how I/we will know you and they know you. ^_^ We're all buds here! Group hug!!!

Blue Lionheart- 04-10-2006

lol Mabaroshi is actually a good friend of mine. hehe He's seriously a big victim of circumstance. He just wanted to do photography and as soon as he started getting close to some of the people, that's when the drama started... So much of it just isn't worth the effort, ugh... But I had some problems with the Orange Anime people as well. I guess no matter where you go there will be conflict, but I truly hope that won't be the case here, because I am soooo tired of drama and stuff. :) I just want to make new friends with similar interests, and have fun together, that's all. :)

Zero0079- 04-10-2006

Well, this group isn't exactly the kind to start a drama or anything, except for a few people that i think we scared off here *points to the DS vs PSP thread*. Anyway, hopefully you will have a better experience here. So we'll see how that goes. Well, unless you've looked at every single place in columbia for groups, then just stick around, and eventually some people will come up. Oh, by the way, did you look around some colleges for a few people willing to join South Carolina Anime? I know they aren't the oldest or most mature group to hang around and talk about anime with (depending on what age group you're seeking), but i'm sure that there are a few that should suffice.

Welcome and Hello! This is an intelligent and fun group online; I unfortunately have not met anyone yet, but hopefully at ConCarolinas I will! Why not drive up to Charlotte for the con? Since it's a sci-fi con the "drama" is a bit different! Don't you just "love" con politics and drama? I usually just nod my head and agree with everybody! Lot less stress that way; got enough stress just dealing with some of the anime vendors who can be very childish. Hopefully, Nekocon 9 will have very little drama since the con's major source has left staff. BTW my friend Terry Chu has designed and sells con staff related T-shirts that are a blast; I have the "Con Staph" bio-hazzard shirt. The one you might like is the "Drama Free Zone" one! His website is: www.msginside.com

I mean, it's not like it's actually going to hurt anyone to compromise.

Andromeda- 04-11-2006

I know! That's why I left. I have enough drama in my life without my fun time being filled with it. In Mabaroshi's case.. well.. I've seen some of that stuff myself and Mabaroshi isn't all innocent. But that's all I'm going to say cause I don't give a flip who has a problem with who as long as I have fun! And occasionaly get into a con for free by volunteering to do something. ^_^ But yeah.. my philosophy, Grin, nod and keep on walking. Actually, it's me nodding, putting someone's ass into place, and then walk away.. lol. Thankfully that doesn't happen often. Come to ConCarolinas! Bunny-chan and I were thinking of getting a weekend room at the hotel so we don't have to drive back and forth every day. Oh! Oh! I need to PM you about something, but I'll do that later.

Amen; problem for drama queens tho. Instead of doing the mature thing and compromising, they prefer to be immature. Neko's insisted that he could run everyone's departments better than they could, said and did things he had no authority to and ignored the non-disclosure agreement. Oh, and piss off staff and con-goers both on the public and private forums with his nasty attitude; doubly bad because he was a moderator.... Well, I guess everyone can see that I really liked this guy; yeah in a pig's eye!

lol, reminds me of some trouble I'm dealing with now. The dude is way older than me and he acts like he's 16. I know 16 year olds who are more mature.
