Huh the Wiii can't belive mostly what i see are Wii owners or PS2
i am a 360 guy because most big gamers i know play 360 due to how many big name games come out for it.
then again everyone i talk to said the Wii is for more of the kids and that may have played a part in my choosing too
360 definitely has more good games but the wii has brawl. I have a 360 and a brawl box both are good consoles.
I'd have a hard time reasoning with myself the purchase of a console just to play a single game on. And at this point in time there isn't even one game exclusive to the Wii that would make it worth my consideration. It's strong points really are in its incredibly narrow, ever growing, catalog of multi-player titles and kid friendly games. Both points which hold little interest to me personally.
Both the 360 and PS2 I bought well after I'd begun full-time employment and I'm rather sorry to admit that I really haven't logged much play time on either of them as yet. Have literally played to death several older systems though.
I chose PS3 and here is why:
I LOVE Sony and i prefer the PS controller
Its a Blue-Ray Player
It has an on-line internet browser (youtube on my TV FTW)
FF XIII may have gon multi but FF XIII versus has not
My PS3 has never overheated and i have no fear that it will
with a router and a media sharing program like WMP or TV-Versity i can access all of the pictures, music, and video on my PC Via my PS3 (you could watch ALL of the anime srored on your PC on your TV)
It links up with my PSP to play games (yes you can ply FFVII on your PSP if you have a PS3)
Also free online play and built in wireless
you see wile the Xbox and the PS3 are both great gaming systems, The PS3 is so much more than that....... it's the ultimate home media device!
And the #1 reason I went with PS3...
NO Microsoft!
I think all of the systems are great in their own regards. the big thing about xbox 360 is its exclusive titles, that and xbox live is pretty cool especially since they updated it. PS3 has its pros and cons too, but I will agree that having a blu-ray player built in is an amazing pro, especially since I love watching blu-ray movies :) The wii is fun when you're with a bunch of friends, and you just want to casually pick up a game and have some fun. The wii by yourself is boring as hell though.. lol So get some friends to play with your wii (hehe)
I own both an X box 360 and a Wii, and i have to say that both systems have tons of exclusives and sleeper hits as well as upcoming games (and not counting shovel ware crap). The PS3 is beginning to grow in more quality content, but i find that it's trying to bee too many things at once, and i wish it'd be a console first, but what can you expect from a multimedia company who's pushing the system away from just games? Although Microsoft is guilty of that as well, but it's not very prominent. They seem to be concentrating in marketing it as a gaming console, which is pretty much what it should be from the get go. And Nintendo is aiming not really at kids, but more of the expanded casual audience.
Now, my absolute favorite has to be the PC. I know it's not a console, and it's not fair to include it as such, but there are just too many games to play on it. Not counting emulation, you still have so much to do. Also, if you finish a game, there will still be content available, provided that there is a thriving community to provide the content. Which is more than what anyone could say about 360, Wii, and PS3 (and yes, i get it that you can have mods on certain games for PS3, but there's too little right now). On top of published games and mods to expand said games, you still have a thriving community of Indie game makers, whom aren't being bottle necked a console makers policies or a publishers policies, so they can release whatever they want, whenever they want.
The only current console I own is a Nintendo DS. I bought it simply so I could play Mario Kart DS, but have since expanded my collection beyond 15+ titles. I've enjoyed every title save for one.
I will purchase a Wii once I get the opportunity. It's a great party system as Jonathan_explosion mentioned. Beyond that it has many games I'm looking forward to playing. Titles such as Mario Kart, SSBB, Mario Party, and Bomberman just to name a few.
As for the PS3, and XBox 360. Well, I've been there done that with the last umpteen generations of consoles. I don't need their price either. Leading into what Zero0079 mentioned. PC gaming does the same thing better.
