Sorcerer Hunters right? and whatever else we want to get in.
Zero0079- 06-29-2006
I got some Gantz (Vol 1 bleh), Gungrave (vol 1, and 5), YuYu Hakusho the movie, Ghost in the Shell 2, Comic Party (Vol 1), Cromartie High vol 1 (not like many are willing to watch any of the titles i have anyway) and thats about it for now. Oh, Geoffrey also installed WiFi on my comp, so we could just download something, and upload it to someones laptop (whoever brings one) and hook it up to the TV, and there's also some of the stuff people are supposedly bringing (you know, the stuff that we voted on). And i hear that you all missed an episode of Fruits Basket, so if you'd like i could show that particular episode, and i hear that ADV is having a 4th of July sale, so i could order some stuff ahead of time, for cheap. And to be honest, we didn't really watch that much Anime the last time the meetup was held at my house. Just a few episodes of this, a few episodes of that. And with the videogames we'll play that will keep people busy.
Andromeda- 07-01-2006
well, that's just it, you're turning it into a big video game thing.
Zero0079- 07-01-2006
Not really. I mean, what ever happened to the ones that we voted on? Arent there some series that were supposed to be watching? Besides, the videogame portion is not a very long one, and it only serves as a filler for the moments between the Anime (you know, when we take a break from the Anime viewing). Also, people can bring as many over as they want. That should already go without saying. Heck, i already got some Sexy commando, Loveless (while it's a good show, i don't know if other guys are willing to watch it), and a few others that we can watch. As a matter of fact, if we would count all that is available now, and the ones that have been voted on, and the possiblity of the ones that others could bring, i'd say we have more Anime than videogames. Also, most of the games we mentioned contain pretty much nothing but multiplayer Minigames, which aren't very long, and will not interfere with the viewings. Also, if it seems like it does get in the way, then we simply won't do it, and take the first priority which is watching Anime. And if you have any suggestions, then lets hear them.
BodyOrgan- 07-01-2006
Well as for me I'll be wanting to get the core sodes we voted on watched, and after that I'm up for anything.
Andromeda, I asked about the video games because I want to bring less with me, not more. Granted I'm lucky enough they are small, so fitting them in my pocket isn't bad, but reducing the number can keep my play time down. I just wanted to know if any of the games we played at the other meets is a must have for some. Otherwise they probably wont be coming this meet.
Zero0079, I've actually wanted to see Loveless, so that would fit my bill. I also read up on Sexy Commando at Animenfo, and I'd like to see an episode or two to see if I might be interested in finishing it.

Sometimes Zero you read more into what I say than what's actually there.
You do realize that no one owns Sorcerer Hunters.
Gantz is actually a good series, but it's bloody and I know a few in the group don't like the bloody.

That's something nobody ever mentioned to me. I'll try to either find it up for download, or see if i could buy it somewhere. In the meantime, if someone has Netflix of Blockbuster online, could they please try to rent it?
And yes, while Gantz is a good series (for the most part), i felt ripped off when i bought the first volume (which is the only one i currently have at the moment). The first volume contains only 2 episodes. I know it's not the creators fault that the series only has 2 episodes per disk, but i just get this feeling of being ripped off when i get DVD's like that.
Andromeda- 07-05-2006
Well, the DVDs do cost less than most Anime DVDs. I have vols 1 & 2 and there is only 2 eps on the second one as well. I'm going to buy the boxset when I get the money. The two vols I have now were given to me by ADV.
You won't be able to download Sorcerer Hunters. It's been licensed for so long now you'll be lucky to find it. It can be rented at the comic shop here. That's where I got the first vol at. And it was mentioned on the board that no one had it.

Actually this isn't quite true. It is true that I didn't have any episodes for the last meet up, but I did manage to find it for download. I have since been downloading it, and I've sent the link to Zero0079 as well.
I've now got episode 8-14 completed in case anyone wants to do another seven episode run, but since it's on our harddrives we could actually slow that pace down to 3 or 4, and fit more alternate animes in our time frame as well.
From what I understand Zero0079 should have these episodes as well, or getting rather close to having the entire series, so either he or I should have the episodes for a meet up.
The downside for you guy's is that there is no English dub, so you'll have to watch it in Japanese and read subtitles.
Zero0079- 07-07-2006
Yep, that's about the gist of it. Plus, the same holds true for other series as well. Heck, years after Chobits was licenced, people are still able to download the episodes with no problem. Now, if others would like to bring their own series they'd like to show, then that'd be great. Also, thanks Geoffrey for the torrent.
Andromeda- 07-10-2006
Is it in English? Please tell me you've checked. I've downloaded stuff and found it to be in Spanish or French. Man was a bumed. And why haven't you directed me to this link?
BodyOrgan- 07-10-2006
If you're asking are the subtitles in English, then yes. I've watched the first few episodes that I missed from the last meet.
I've also completed downloading the series, so I have it all now.
I tried telling everyone that I had this link back before the June meet up, but no one seemed to pick up on it. Since then I just pretty much quietly kept downloading it.
high_templar- 07-11-2006
Ok now how are we gonna play them? I sold my old laptop so some one else will have to bring one with video out or it will need to be burned to DVD.
BodyOrgan- 07-11-2006
Woah! Why did you end up selling your laptop? I'll bring mine with me. It has S-Video out. I'm going to load it up with our selected series, and various other animes, so we'll have a selection.
I'm trying very hard to get the meet up day off from work, and it's looking good so far. If it pans out then I'm going to show up early to Zero0079's place to help set things up, and make sure I can get this TV out deal going. This way we don't run into any problems that will slow the meet up down.
As for my Nintendo DS games, I'm simply going to bring the party type games with me. That will be Bomberman, and Metroid Prime Pinball. I'll have Animal Crossing: Wild World with me as well, but only because it's already going to be in the machine. So if you wanted me to bring something else, then now's the time to tell me otherwise this is it.
high_templar- 07-11-2006
I bought a new one, it just doesn't have video out. That other one was getting a tad slow. It was about 5yrs old.
Y'all gonna make me buy a DS arent ya?
