Nintendo's E3 conference info Today it was Nintendo's turn to take the floor in the E3 Press conference. The Nintendo Press conference started with Miyamoto doing an Orchestral number of the Zelda theme, using the Wii remote. Afterwards, focus was placed on Regie Fils-Aime who announced the already known upcoming games such as Mario Galaxy (which was known as Mario 128), Red Steel, Dragon Quest Swords, Sonic Wildfire, Legend of Zelda Twilight Princess, Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles 2, Metroid Prime 3: Corruption, and many (over 27) other titles. Ontop of that, they also announced 3 of many new franchises: Project H.A.M.M.E.R(S?), Excite Truck, and Disaster which shows that the Wii will not have a weak launch. All the games that were announced were shown as part of a montage video. The focus was then taken from Regie, to two developers that were displaying Twilight Princess's capabilities, with the Wii controller. While they were displaying the capabilities, they also announced a new feature of the Wii controller, which contains a small independent speaker within the face of the controller, which allows sound alteration from the Wii remote to the Television. To explain it in better detail, the developers used the Wii remote to fire a bow in Twilight princess. As the bow was being strung by one of the developers, the Wii remote emitted the noise of the bow being strung. Once he fired the bow, the sound of the bow firing traveled from the Remote to the screen, adding a sence of realism which was never thought of before. The two developers then began to explain in detail how precise the control is. Afterwards, the two developers left to the back stage, and Regie then introduced the developers of the higly anticipated Ubisoft game Red Steel who displayed Red Steel in action.
Later on, the Senior V.P of Marketing and corporate events of Nintendo of America; George Harrison made a speech, and announced upcoming DS lite titles, which include: Touch Generation games (Big Brain Academy, Club House Games, Sudoku Gridmaster), New Super Mario Bros, Pokemon Blue Mistery Dungeon (DS), and it's companion Red Mistery Dungeon (GBA). He also announced more upcoming games like: Star Fox DS, Diddy Kong Racing, Yoshi's Island 2, the anticipated legendary title Final Fantasy 3 Remake, and Tony Hawk Downhill Jam which allows you to play with others online through Nintendo Wifi, and allows you to talk to friends through VOIP. More games such as Mario Hoops, Elite Beat Agents, and Mario Vs. DK: March of the Minis were announced as part of a DS montage video. After the DS video, President of Nintendo, Satoru Iwata came up to the stage, and started talking about his frustration of loading times, and stated how the Wii will open up games and applications such as the built in Opera Browser as fast as turning on a T.V or answering a Phone. Iwata also announced that the Wii will provide a variety of services even if the system is turned off, using a system called "WiiConnect24", which allows the system to be constantly connected to the Internet while the system stays turned on in a hybernation state which keeps operating key functions, while only using the same power as a miniature lightbulb. This also means that developers can "Developers can push a new weapon, or a Vehicle or a level to us, even while we sleep". This will be designed to work with Animal Crossing, as well as any other game being developed for the Wii. For Animal Crossing, this proves more interesting, because a friend can visit your town while you are asleep, and leave gifts or notes, or whatever functions that are within boundaries. Iwata also announced "Wii Sports", which gives a more intuitive controls with fun sports titles for the Wii. The game was being displayed as part of the Nintendo contest which people who signed up and won were chosen to go to E3's Nintendo Press Conference, and be part of a lucky draw that would allow the winner to play with the Nintendo Wii with Reggie, Miyamoto, and Iwata (interesting note, the tennis Wii sports game had Reggie, Miyamoto, and Iwata as actual playable characters). Reggie Fils-Aime then began a closing statement, talking about Nintendo is a company that are disruptors, and that "Change is good".
Not long after the Press Conference, Nintendo Unvelied the Virtual Console Shell, which can be seen here:

I've read a lot of forums where a lot of people aren't happy that the Nintendo Wii doesn't have state of the art graphics, but I'm excited because of all the new ways to play games. The increased immersion is going to be great.
I Wii player might actually finally be able to compete against a PC player (mosue/keyboard) in first person shootes with the Wii's remote. It's going to be interesting to see how that turns out.

You should really check again, because alot of Sony fans are pissed. The $600 price tag for the not so stripped version of the PS3, really got to them. But yeah, with online functionality and networking tools built right in, and with the Wii remote, it could really give the PC a run for it's money. But not i said "Could", since the original Xbox was more of a PC than the Wii (with it's structure, and more or less the same library of games), but it still didn't compete with the PC. And the PS3 is suppsed to be more powerful than any PC out at the moment, so it's still have yet to be proven.
Also, here's some leaked DS screen shots i got from the Nintendo press site:

I got alot more DS screens, so if anyone wants them, just ask.

I'm really interested in that Star Trek game. Do you have anymore screens of that one? What about the Donkey Kong Racing as well?
Zero0079- 05-10-2006
Sorry, but that's the only ones that were issued for those games. I'll be sure to show some new screens as soon as they issue them. Although i may not have more screenshots, i do have additional information that i can give ya.
BodyOrgan- 05-10-2006
Yes, info for that game would be great. I read the interview online at Nintendo.com, and what little blurb they had in the recent Nintendo Power release.
