Ohayou!
Just dropping by; I'm new to the Greenville/Spartanburg area and happened upon a forum with people of similiar interests :o I've been watching anime... I don't even know how long... 10 years maybe. Most of the stuff I get is full seasons fansubbed. There's nothing quite like watching your favorite show on a 92" projection screen ;) In fact, this past weekend I watched... season 1 of Shakugan no Shana (24 eps), The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya (14 eps), Kimi Ga Nozomu Eien (13 eps), and Magical Shopping Arcade Abenobashi (13 eps) shite! that was 64 20 something minute episodes :-x Anyways, hope everybody is well - maybe if I'm able to I'll try to attend a meetup sometime. Ja-ne!

Holy crap! I know anime is a way of life, and everything, but you should think about cutting back on the weekend dosage. (Kimi Ga Nozumu Eien season 2 is just now being aired btw. Yippie!) I would highly recomend coming to at least one meetup if only for the free food. :)

heh. well I don't ALWAYS watch that much anime every weekend... I've just been in a very anime mood. When it gets warmer I'll start bringing the projector outside for some real big anime. We've got a PA and a 10' x 6' screen. That could be a good group gathering sometime maybe. "Anime in the Park"

dude... careful on the offers.. cause we'll be there faster than you can say "I like my ass slapped" in Japanese. Which sadly... I used to know how to say... lol.

Ja-ne! And I thought I was the only true hardcore nut here! :P Every weekend I have my kids we do a major gaming and anime fest. Last time around it was Yamato Nadeshiko Shichi Hengi, Majokko Tsukune Chan, Midori No Hibi...and a healthy smattering of Kingdom Hearts II on the PS2, and some Zelda Twilight Princess on the GC to round out the insanity. Sadly this was on a 32" screen and not a 92" projector that would make me drool. :P This week apart from playing catchup with current season fansubs, I've rewatched Witch Hunter Robin, Chobits, and a bit of Kodocha No Omocha (hard to watch all 105 eps in a sitting). :P

cieje- 01-11-2008

heh. Midori no Hibi was an interesting show... I saw a lot more potential in it, but it was ok. I don't really feel I watch too much... usually like 1 or 2 weekends a month I'll get the "bug" and watch a ton. My wife doesn't have the patience to sit and watch a ton of episodes like I do, plus we're in the midst of watching all of ST:TNG... which is a daunting task at 178 hour long (well... 50min or so) episodes. As for offers, we'll see; The projector is pretty portable: projects from the ground/flat surface, has built-in speakers (if needed), and a built in dvd player (can't play divx, but that's what computers are made for) So we could basically take it anywhere there's power and a place to hang the screen... Anyways, we'll see - it's too cold for most people, and has been rainy heh.

I had my friend's projector for a long while.. it was a beast of a machine...lol. Actually, he called it, "The Beast". He had bought a new portable slim compact one. So I lugged his beast to a con once to do some panels. Do you guys like SG1?

cieje- 01-11-2008

Do you guys like SG1? we never have gotten into it. Right now we're on ST:TNG (which I've already seen all of... but the misses hadn't seen any, so we figured to watch them all in order haha) next we'll probably go back and watch all of TOS then I guess ST:DS9 and eventually ST:V... we want to watch all of TOS before the new movie at the end of the year so she knows the core of the star trek universe. We're nerds. We've been thinking about trying to play D&D too, but that can be another geeky thread sometime.

I haven't rolled a 20 sided die and fought callizantzari and catobeplas since junior high....... OMG!!! (that was back in the day when you had to make your own dice out of gravel and dungeon maps on animal skins) :P

cieje- 01-11-2008

o, well neither of us have played at all... so we really don't know what it entails. I looked up a local d&d group that gets together, but judging by the pictures... my wife might not be comfortable with a bunch of sweaty dorito eating men in their late to mid 40s-50s - not that the age and sex matters... but the context of a "general description" d&d player makes her think to avoid such a situation. So instead I started playing magic the gathering (never did before) on the computer for my old-ish game playing needs. Although it's well 20 years younger than d&d is of course.

Andromeda- 01-11-2008

My hubby is a big ST fan. I can't tell you how many times I've sat through ST:V reruns. "OMG! Haven't we seen this one 5 times already!" I got him hooked on SG1 years ago when we were dating. I like to RP, but I never got into D&D. I've done games online that were loosely based on D&D. Got thrown into the DM position and had to go out and buy the DM book and a Monster Manual, just so I had some inkling of what to do! I don't know about getting together with peeps to do it though. I know a few who used to go to this one meeting, and they'd tell me about the other players. And here I thought I was weird... omg.. FREEEEEAAAKKKYYYYYYYY.
