I would love a con in SC and if it was in the greenville/spartanburg area i would be willin to volenteer and i might even consider putting some cash twards it. just think if the 15 people who voted yes put up $100 there would be $1500 Start up cash! Maybe South Carolina Anime as a group could get together some kind of fund raising effort and sponsor the event!!!

A convention here in Columbia would be lovely, but the problem would be where to put it. The logical choices would be the Columbia Metropolitan Convention Center, which is located on the outskirts of town. There are very few hotels in downtown Columbia, though, and a special shortage of hotels within walking distance that are actually affordable. Most people would end up staying in Irmo at the cheaper hotels and then have to drive over to the Convention Center in downtown (approx. 15 minutes, more in rush hour). The other choices would be the Embassy Suites of COlumbia, the Marriott of Columbia, the Holiday Inn and Suites of Lexington, or the Koger Center for the Arts in downtown Columbia. All of those hotels are in rural areas, and would be great for cons.

I would definitely like to see a convention in South Carolina, moreso Greenville/Spartanburg, for anime and gaming. Spartanburg has the Marriott. Greenville's downtown has the Westin Poinsett, Hyatt, and Hampton Inn & Suites.
