Sub, or dub I've never went to one of the clubs events but I was wondering how you all watch your amime? Dubbed or subbed?

The Spartanburg group is probably about 60/40 subbed/dubbed. The dub is mainly because high_templar doesn't like to read.

Then he fails as an anime fan.

That's not true! :P You and Victor were the ones for subs. The rest of us are more dubs.

Subs Are the Best I sometimes hate Americanized Anime just like Gayruto (Naruto) It's not the same anymore and eversince the First AmericanAnime Awards Fullmetals won alot when Naruto is supposed to win the Sub Fans got pissed at CN for chaning the THEME songs!! That's why I love Naruto it has the best music!! (Japanese only)
That's what I think and now they WANNA PLAY THE THEME SONGS WHEN THEY ALREADY SKIPPED MY FAVORITE!!

I thought you preferred the subs too, and pinkrabbit. Well then maybe I should change my answer. 60/40 in favor of dubs.

That makes me cry inside.

I know ><

since I whore fansubs like a crack addict, I'd have to say subs.
My kids generally prefer dubs, though my daughter keeps up with bleach and naruto eps as they're fansubbed.
English dubs are getting better and better (inasfar as actors not sounding like helium addicts), but sometimes the english dub scripts are horrendously rewritten, and all the cultural context is lost.
If it's a new series, I watch the sub first. Sometimes I'll get impatient and watch raws too, because my crappy japanese comprehension can mostly cope. :P

The only time the scripts are horrendously rewritten now, is to do it for fun, like the case with errr.. that Ghost one that I can't remember the full name of right now. They even advertised it as the original script being thrown out and rewritten by the voice actors. Translations can't be stuck to. There are a number of things that just don't translate and that people won't understand. I've seen a number of series over the last few years that had great dubbing, voice and script wise.

It's very true that there are some that are done great (I almost like the dub of Bebop better than the sub) but there are others that make me want to stab myself in the eye. Bleach and Naruto both being prime examples.

I think the only one recently that has rubbed me the wrong way is the voice of the main character from Negima. That was awful.
Personally though, I think a lot of Japanese voices are awful. Most are just too high pitched.

ADV has a nasty habit of rewriting the universe...I know it's to make a title less "cultural" for sales purposes...but it still hacks me off.... :P

And let's not forget the dub of Tokyo Mew Mew where they took them out of Tokyo and put them in San Francisco.
