I got stumped on a few, particularly any that concerned Dune. I liked the movie, but that is as far as it went.

I tried reading the book. Got 100 pages in and gave up. At least I gave it the old schoolboy try.

lol, yep. I don't think I could read the book. Some of those Sci-Fi books just don't interest me at all.

Me either. I'm more of a fantasy guy. However, some non-nutso sci-fi I like. I'm a big Michael Crichton fan.

So am I. The first book I read of his was Jurassic Park, in HS. The teacher skipped a lot of things and hit the most important stuff of the book. I enjoyed it so much that I bought it so I could read the whole thing.

My first Crichton book was The Lost World. I thought it was great, moved onto Sphere and was just blown away.
Andromeda- 10-10-2007
I felt the same way about Sphere and was like, Dang this would make a great movie. Then they made the movie and I was like.. that kind of sucked.

I'm a Sci-Fi fan, and less of a Fantasy fan. I didn't read Sphere, but instead watched the movie, and it left me with the bland feeling.

Sphere is like a lot of movies based on Crichton's books. HORRID. The book is brilliant however. It's a shame...people ruin his books when they make them into movies. Jurassic Park was bad, Congo was terrible, The Lost World had nothing to do with the book at all, Timeline...don't get me started.
Andromeda- 10-10-2007
Jurassic Park was the better of the book movies though. The book being far superior. Congo was simple dreadful. And Timeline... yeah. I was like... wtf? Did I read this book or not? The Lost World I was like... errr.. Wasn't that a part of the first book? and Clive Cussler thought his two books turned into movies were butchered.

I can't believe Crichton OK's some of that dreck. For a guy as smart as he is (MD from Harvard) he makes some horrid business calls.
BodyOrgan- 10-12-2007
I though the Jurassic Park movie was great. I can't see how you don't like it.
Moogle- 10-12-2007
The movie, as a movie, was quite good, but it was a complete bastardization of the book. The characters had been totally changed (Dr. Grant was a polar opposite of who he was in the book) and it really dumbed down the science which is what his books really revolve around.
